I wasn't actually aware this type of pleats pattern was a legitimate fold for skirts until now—I'd always assumed each fold was supposed to mirror the fold next to it (like the folds on the left and right sides of the skirt in this drawing). So I looked into it.
Turns out these are knife pleats, and what I was thinking of were box pleats. I learned something today.
Anywho, this is a good method for either. Thanks for the tutorial, which taught me much more than I thought it would.
